3DMark and Games

The Asus W7J uses the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 which means that it is capable of playing some games, but what can you expect from the GPU in reality? We put the Go 7400 through its paces and see how it performs in a series of game related tests starting with 3DMark.

If the Graphics score in PC Mark 05 was any indication, we shouldn’t expect too much from the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 built into the W7J. But of course 3DMark isn’t the only measurement we use. The next test uses a few older games as well as more recent titles to demonstrate the capabilities of the GPU.

The GeForce Go 7400 does a very good job at lower resolutions or details with frame rates above 50 FPS (30 FPS being the slowest “acceptable” playable frame rate). At higher resolutions and details we have the W7J still managing fairly well with the exception of Age of Empires 3 and Halo which score the lowest (both using DirectX 9 shaders).
