FEAR
FEAR (Direct X)
One of the most impressive games of E3 2005 turned out to be one of the most graphically intense as well.
*** Note: we have disabled Soft Shadows in all the below tests despite what the screen indicates above. And since we were using the retail game this time, I opted to use the in-game “settings test” fly by to compare performance.
Looking at FEAR performance, the NVIDIA 7950 GX2 card has the advantage in the 1600×1200 and 2048×1536 resolutions; but the ATI X1950 XTX is slightly faster at 2560×1600. CrossFire results are once again, very impressive, with large jumps in the average frame rate, but unfortunately, not in the minimum FPS.
In these tests, the Quad SLI and X1950 CrossFire systems are NOT running SuperAA (except the X1950 CF SuperAA, blue color) or SLIAA because both companies support standard IQ settings even in the quad-GPU format. Again, the X1950 XTX CrossFire setup is behind the Quad SLI in terms of performance at the 16×12 and 20×15 results, though it is able to take the lead at 25×16.
