Introduction and Test Configuration
There’s a new Core 2 Duo BIOS for the Asus Z96JS. Does this fix the power and performance issues we revealed on July 27th? We redo all the tests and find out what has improved. Not much changes except for one critical feature.
On the day the Core 2 Duo was officially announced, we revealed to the world the potential of the Merom Core 2 Duo T7400 mobile CPU by using an Asus Z96JS laptop. While the performance tests showed nice increases, there were some issues notably in power management and with some tests showing lower results than the older Core Duo T2600 CPU.
This week Intel and Asus have released an updated BIOS for the Z96JS laptop that fully supports the new Core 2 Duo CPUs. After a flash, let’s see what has changed.
