A Detailed Look
The Corsair HX620W power supply supports the latest ATX12V v2.2/EPS12V 2.91 guidelines and is rated for a combined, continuous output power of 620 watts at up to 50°C operating temperature. That’s important as some less reputable manufactures limit their power supply’s advertised capacity by specifying a lower operating temperature (25°C) in the fine print. The PSU includes universal AC line input (automatically adjusts the AC line voltage) and active PFC, which makes the unit more environmentally friendly. The HX620W utilizes double-forward switching circuitry that provides up to 84% efficiency (up to 86% when operated from 230 VAC) when delivering a typical load (340 watts).
The HX620W PSU has three 12V outputs (+12V1, +12V2, and +12V3) that can deliver up to 50A total (600 watts) on the 12V rails. It incorporates a unique circuit design that automatically enables load sharing between the three +12V rails in the event one of the +12V rails exceeds its 18A capacity.

The Corsair HX620W power supply enclosure is painted matte black and uses a single 120mm exhaust fan on the bottom for cooling. The fan speed is automatically controlled by the internal component temperature (speeds up as the combined load and temperature increases). The Adda fan (AD1212HB-A71GL) is rated for up to 85.2 CFM at 2,200 rpm and 39.1 dBA.

The open honeycomb grill on the back allows the exhaust air to exit the power supply with minimal resistance.

The Corsair HX620W power supply has a full assortment of cables and connectors. The main power and +12V cables are hard-wired into the PSU and covered with braided plastic mesh sleeving. The two PCI-E cables and all of the peripheral device cables are modular and plug into connectors on the front of the power supply.

- Main power connector (24-pin/20-pin)
- ATX 12V (4-pin)
- EPS 12V (8-pin)
- (2) PCI Express (6-pin) modular
- (10) Peripheral Optical/HDD (4-pin) modular
- (8) Peripheral Serial ATA (15-pin) modular
- (2) Peripheral FDD (4-pin) adapter
- (2) Fan only (4-pin) adapter
All of the modular cables are constructed with a flat, ribbon style cable for flexibility and easy routing, which helps eliminate cable clutter and minimizes airflow restrictions for better case cooling.
