MSI K9A Platinum Motherboard Installation
Now we’ll look at the MSI K9A Platinum motherboard and how it installs into the same case and configuration.
Again, the initial placement of the motherboard shows no major issues with a typical installation.
The case headers are placed in pretty much the same area here on the MSI motherboard as they were on the ECS board. The colors on the USB and FireWire headers might be nice for users that don’t want to reference the manual to find the pin-outs.
Routing the power along with the IDE and SATA cables shows the same setup as the ECS KA3 MVP motherboard. The 4-pin ATX power connector is located on the lower left hand of the processor socket forcing us to wrap around the heatsink one way or the other.
You can see from this picture that with both ATI video cards installed, there is a single PCIe x1 and legacy PCI slot still available; it does seem roomier than the ECS board at this point.
Adding in all the dongles and the sound card fills up the case completely and since the USB and FireWire headers are seperated, there are no more empty slots on the back.
The back panel of the case is left to look like this once the board installation is complete.
