Prey

Prey (OpenGL)

Prey is the latest title to be released using the Doom 3 engine, and since we have learned how to tweak the engine a bit more since then, it makes sense to include this major title in our testing suite.

In what used to be known as the engine that was NVIDIA or bust, the ATI X1900 XT is able to make a strong showing beating out the 7950 GT cards at 2560×1600; though the 1600 and 1920×1200 resolutions are on nearly equal footing.  It is interesting to see how the X1900 XT is able to cope with having half of the total memory and still run games at 2560×1600 faster than the GeForce 7950 GT in many cases.

Again the two BFG 7950 GT OC cards in SLI impressed me with results that were 88% fatser at 2560×1600, where the GPU was the main bottleneck.
