Network Interface Tests
Our network tests use the ntttcp application distributed by Microsoft for testing network controller’s efficiency. The program creates a number of threads from a server machine to spit data at the test machine at up to Gigabit speeds. Both maximum throughput and CPU utilization are tested.

There are two Gigabit Ethernet connections on the P5B Deluxe motherboard; one using the PCI Express bus and the other using the PCI bus. By using the PCI bus, the second Gigabit networking connection was only capable of reach 580 Mb/s. But since we have at least one full Gigabit connection, the secondary NICs slower speeds are fully acceptable.
