Of all the Asus laptops I’ve reviewed the Asus W2J has an incredible accessory package. If you’re used to getting a Deluxe or Premium Asus motherboard that come with all the bells and whistles, the Asus W2J is your laptop equivalent. In the box you will find everything, I mean EVERYTHING, you need to make a mobile home theater or digital media center.

The Asus W2J comes with all the system software you need to teardown and rebuild the Windows Media Edition installation from scratch. Also included is PowerDVD, PowerProducer, Nero CD/DVD burning software, and MS Works 8.

What sets the W2J apart from many other laptops on the market is the inclusion of a superior media hardware bundle. From left to right above we have a USB infra-red receiver, Windows Media Center remote, and a TV antenna. The IR receiver and remote can be used on any PC with Windows MC, so don’t feel like you’re limited to using it on just the W2J. The remote uses two AA batteries (included in the box) and is conveniently backlit when used. The range on it is very good and the receiver can pick up remote control actions at extreme angles thanks to the wide receiver surface.

The above are the connectors and cables that come included with the Asus W2J laptop. From left to right the items are: AV input dongle, DVI to Mini-DVI adapter, some unknown cable, NTSC/PAL adapter, and a coax adapter. The unknown cable (the bundle of wire between the DVI and coax adapters) I thought to be a microphone because it lights up when plugged into the Mic jack, but it isn’t. It doesn’t do anything else when plugged into the other jacks and the manual makes no mention of this being included with the W2J.

Lastly, there is a pair of headphones, a phone cable for the modem, and a RCA/S-Video adapter.
