A Closer Look
The Power+ 650W power supply is part of Akasa’s Perfomance Series line. The enclosure is painted satin black and uses two Sanyo Denki SanCooler80 ball bearing fans for cooling. The intake fan is mounted in a small housing on front of the power supply and blows air in while the second 80mm fan is mounted inside the back panel and exhausts warm air out.
The speed of the two fans is automatically controlled by the internal component temperature (they speed up as the combined load and temperature increases). This type of push-pull configuration can provide excellent airflow and cooling.
The rear fan is fitted with an open, wire-style fan grill while the front of the power supply and intake fan cover use a honeycomb style grill.
The Akasa 650W power supply supports ATX12V v2.01/EPS12V and is rated for a combined, continuous output power of 650 watts (710W peak) at up to 50ºC. The power supply incorporates universal input (automatically adjusts the AC line voltage) and active PFC that adds to the units environmental friendliness.
Specifications (from the Akasa website)
The Power+ incorporates four 12V outputs (+12V1, +12V2, +12V3, and +12V4). The maximum combined load for all four +12V outputs is 42A (504 watts).
The power supply has a large assortment of cables and connectors. The main wiring harnesses range in length from 21′ to 27′ long to the first connector and all of the cables are covered with black plastic mesh sleeving.
