Heat and Power Consumption

In the past I found smaller laptops hotter than larger cousins because of the restricted space and the smaller fans installed. Though the Asus-Lamborghini VX1 looks and feels like a small laptop, it’s very cool under pressure but does get fairly warm on the right-hand side where the CPU and GPU are located. Let’s take a look at our results.

All the other temperature readings look good and hover below the 30C mark. Certainly not the hottest laptop we’ve tested here in the lab.

The VX1’s temperatures is very similar to that of the 12.1′ W5F with the exception of the CPU. The NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 GPU is near the CPU, so that may be inflating the temperatures a little.

Power Consumption

The power consumption of the Asus-Lamborghini VX1 is fairly good and comes up as being the most power conscious compared to the other systems we have recorded.

Thanks to the low power NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 the VX1 consumes significantly less energy compared to the 15′ Z96J which runs an ATI Radeon Mobility X1600. However, lower power consumption comes at the expense of a slower GPU which performs much slower in games.
