3DMark06

The new Futuremark 3DMark06 benchmark was released just a few months ago and has already become a popular test for GPU benchmarks and CPUs as well.  You can see my full overview of the new benchmark, what it has to offer over the 2005 version and some other initial scores from my previous article

Our 3DMark06 tests show the 8800 GTX to be a beast yet again, winning the default benchmark score by 62% over the ATI X1950 XTX, even at the low, low resolution of 1280×1024.  The fill rate test shows a win for the 8800 GTX compared to the other single GPU cards, but the 7950 GX2 still has a theoretical advantage there.  In pixel and vertex tests, the 8800 GTX does excel but not by substantial margins, until we look at the SM3.0 tests results; wow!
