FEAR
FEAR (Direct X)
One of the most impressive games of E3 2005 turned out to be one of the most graphically intense as well.
*** Note: we have disabled Soft Shadows in all the below tests despite what the screen indicates above. And since we were using the retail game this time, I opted to use the in-game “settings test” fly by to compare performance.
In FEAR, the performance from the 8800 GTS and the 7900 GTX are very similar, with a slight edge going to the new G80 GPU. At 1600×1200 and 2048×1536, the 8800 GTS SLI configuration runs away with the performance lead, with a scaling factor of 92%! At 2560×1600 though, the extra memory on the GTX model helps it to perform slightly better than the two GTS cards, though we still see a VERY impressive 96% scaling from a single card!
