FEAR
FEAR (Direct X)
One of the most impressive games of E3 2005 turned out to be one of the most graphically intense as well.
*** Note: we have disabled Soft Shadows in all the below tests despite what the screen indicates above. And since we were using the retail game this time, I opted to use the in-game “settings test” fly by to compare performance.
FEAR is another game where performance at higher resolutions could use a lift and the pair of 8800 GTX cards in SLI do just that. Looking at performance in the 2560×1600 resolution, there is no competition as the SLI setup sees a 92% average FPS performance increase as well as an 88% minimum FPS increase. Again for the first time I can say that FEAR at image quality settings this high is a breeze.
I’ll keep my consoles but not
I’ll keep my consoles but not bad.
And here we are in 2023 when people complain about RTX 4090 being too expensive, and people in 2006 were buying multiple $650 MSRP cards to run them in SLI to barely reach 100 FPS.
