3DMark06
The new Futuremark 3DMark06 benchmark was released just a few months ago and has already become a popular test for GPU benchmarks and CPUs as well. You can see my full overview of the new benchmark, what it has to offer over the 2005 version and some other initial scores from my previous article.
Our default 3DMark06 scores show an increase of 23% or so with the second 8800 GTX card — no doubt this number is made less impressive by the 1280×1024 resolution it runs at for standard scoring. The rest of the synthetic tests show BIG gains for SLI here including the fill rate tests (with a 97% gain), pixel shading test (with a 95% gain) and vertex shading (with an 83% gain).
I’ll keep my consoles but not
I’ll keep my consoles but not bad.
And here we are in 2023 when people complain about RTX 4090 being too expensive, and people in 2006 were buying multiple $650 MSRP cards to run them in SLI to barely reach 100 FPS.
