Conclusions and Recognition
Wow — Ultra Products is three-for-three with their new Andyson built power supplies! All three units feature high efficiency, solid outputs, and quiet operation along with active power factor correction and great looks. Add to that Ultra’s Lifetime Warranty, and you have three very appealing power supplies.
The higher output X-Pro 800W and X-Finity 800W units had the lowest AC ripple content of any power supply I have tested to date. They both feature aluminum enclosures with dual 80mm cooling fans that continue running for a few minutes after the PC is switched off. They are also one of the few power supplies I have tested that use two output transformers. While they could use a few more connectors, these power supplies are well suited for workstation/server class operations.
The Ultra X-Pro EE 600W high efficiency unit is sure to appeal to PC enthusiasts and gamers alike. Unlike most PC power supplies, it features a single, high capacity +12V rail so you don’t have to worry about overloading an individual +12V output because of the way your particular PC is configured. Rock-solid voltage regulation, high efficiency, quiet operation, and a black-chrome finish with sleeved cables make this unit a perfect match for the majority of users — highly recommended!
