Conclusions

If you are in the market for a power supply in the 650~1200 watt range, one of the new Thermaltake Toughpower units deserve a close look.  The 850W model exhibited very good voltage regulation and stability along with excellent efficiency.  Active PFC, modular sleeved cables, and a 5-year warranty are all nice to have.

The Toughpower 850W generates more noise than the Toughpower 750W but the 850W PSU has high-capacity +12V outputs (+12V3 and +12V4 are rated for up to 30A each).  This can eliminate potential problems with overloading specific +12V outputs when using various combinations of power hungry hardware.

The Thermaltake Toughpower 850W power supply is currently available for $259.99 USD.
