Interview with Moderator lidistick

Well, it’s Friday. I’ve been working on the Mods to belly up to the interview bar and have actually been making some headway. Thanks, guys! Here today is a fella I rather enjoy having fun with, let’s hope you find him as entertaining as I do….oh, he’s one heck of a whiz in Audio Corner as well. As far as being a “Sheep shagger”….well, I hear he’s getting help with that….not sure how it’s working out, however!

OK, by now you know the drill:
Hi there. Let me take a minute to introduce myself. I’m Uncle Bob, a Mod here at PC Perspective. We will be running a series of articles within the forum that will be called Mod Interviews. I ask revealing, embarrassing, stupid, probing questions of Mods and hopefully you get to laugh with us at ourselves and in the process get to know some of us better. Beware, not all the Mods are as forthcoming as you may like, I do my best to uncover the truth, but haven’t always hit the mark!
Here ya go, number 14 in the series: lidistick!

 

1. I realize many of the mods here are in a witness protection program of some sort, but can you give us your real name?

2. Why did you join PCPer/AMDMB?
A long time ago, I bought a crappy A7A motherboard (yeah, the one with the ALi MaGic chipset! ) and needed to fit a Thermaltake Volcano 7 to the CPU for overclocking purposes… – note to self; crappy board, crappy overclocking. Long story short some dudes over the audio corner helped me with getting my copy-protected CD to work on my PC and I was hooked.

3. Which forums do you mod?
Audio corner and SFF,HTPC, Mobiles.

4. Why do you keep coming back?
Great people on the forums. The level of knowledge in this forums never fails to impress me. Sometimes I think that all that knowledge combined could write the world’s first proper operating system.. and we could market it to the world.. and BE RICH *cue evil cackle*

5. What was your first experience with a computer?
Can’t remember the hardware specs but it was a game called Frogger and Tetris.


6. Do you prefer to be called a “geek” or a “nerd”?
Either are better than what I’m usually known as – “Sheep shagger”

7. What exactly do you do here at PC Perspective?
Post links (sorry – inside mod joke). I attempt to help those who need their creative cards working. I’m a little out of touch with the new Xi-Fi but its because I can’t be asked to upgrade

8. What do you like most about your ‘job’? I realize it’s actually a rudimentary form of slavery or servitude, but you are still here…can you explain this to our readers?
I get a real kick when someone says thanks because they now have surround sound for games or for movies and its a totally different experience for them. I also like to have other activities aside from my real life activities.

9. OK, we all know this is coming…What do you like least about your job?
Paying tax on the zeroes Ryan happily dishes out!

10. How long have you been active in PC Perspective?
Since 2002/3.

11. Where are most active here? What is it you suppose that draws you to that particular area?
Audio Corner, and Off Topic. Used to fold but my power bill gave me a fright!

12. What interests do you have outside of PC Perspective. Don’t be shy, if you don’t have a life outside of here, many readers would like to know!
Music primarily and cars a close second. Work comes a much further third. I play classical guitar and flamenco but can dish out some rock tunes. My car addiction is seriously bankrupting me as I seem to need bigger wheels, bigger brakes, bigger throttle body, bigger sub, bigger exhaust, bigger wallet etc. This is my secret homepage

13. OK, it’s hardware time! Let’s start with your most, or current favorite piece of hardware. Tell us about it.
Most recent has to be the Marantz SA8400 Stereo CD/SACD player. 50% off and very good in the few days that I’ve had it. The most enjoyable would have to be the MB Quart 325.3 component speakers for the car.

14. Software? Hey, if you are a closet Linux user, now’s the time to come out. (If you are a closet Microsoft user, don’t be afraid, we can keep a secret!)
Tried linux but figured I needed to be some crazy genius to get it to work. So I’m back with Windows XP. Best software has got to be Eric Clapton and BB King; Riding with the King in DVD-Audio; Hmm or maybe Pink Floyd’s Dark side of the moon in SACD. Both excellent.

15. OK, let’s get real personal. Witness Protection Program be damned…Can you tell us something about yourself you’d like us to know?
I cover my wife in wool so I think I’m sleeping with sheep.

16. What can you tell us about your job? Hey, if you do something illegal, now’s a good enough time as any to make a clean start!
JimZ calls me a bank robber in a suit but I’m actually a professional human trouble-shooter. Yep, I’m a Doc currently doing an internal medicine post and trying to get onto the Anaesthetics and Critical care training scheme.
Perks of the job include putting my fingers and hands in many orifices and saying, “Trust me, I’m a doctor”

17. Where do you live? (Be fearless, your secret is safe with us..)
Hamilton, New Zealand – 53 million sheep and 4 million people. The odds are in my favour.

18. What can you tell us about your family??
Married 5 months. No kids thank god, but expecting the little shits in a few years.

19. Here’s a delicate one…How old are you and where did you grow up?
27, born, bred in Malaysia (same place where they assemble AMD chips).

20. Well, we are getting to the end of it, it’ll all be over soon, I promise. What would like to say to our forum members, go ahead anything. Get it off your chest. We have all day here….
