Kandalf Chassis – Exterior View
The new Kandalf LCS chassis is slightly larger than the original and stands almost 2′ feet high and over 2′ deep (540mm x 220mm x 640mm). The silver version is all aluminum while the black version features a brushed aluminum front and steel chassis, which makes it considerably heavier.

The front door opens to the right and has been modified from the original Kandalf case design to incorporate the large radiator. Thermaltake claims they borrowed this concept from the automotive industry — I have to admit, I never thought of mounting the radiator into the front door! (We will discuss the radiator in greater detail in the next section.)

Three 120mm cooling fans are sandwiched between the door and the radiator. They are fixed speed fans that pull cool room air in thru the front door grill and blow air thru the large radiator. The center fan incorporates blue LEDs, which adds to the case’s stylish lighting effects.

There are 11 exposed 5.25′ drive bays, which are fitted with mesh inserts and foam air filters. The top bay bracket houses the Power-On-Off and Reset switches, Power-On and HDD activity lights, and includes a 3.5′ drive bay.

The 5.25′ insert at the bottom of the front panel has a large opening, which allows the sleeved hoses and wires from the radiator and fans to pass thru.

Just above this pass-thru is a small drawer that can be used for storing a few CD’s, small tools, thumb drives, etc. As with all of the 5.25′ bay devices, the drawer can be located in most any position you choose (except for the bottom slot).
