Liquid Cooling System Components

The Kandalf Liquid Cooling System includes everything needed to setup a basic CPU water-cooling system (additional GPU and chipset waterblocks can be purchased separately).  The radiator/fan assembly comes pre-installed while all the other LCS components come boxed up and require installation.

The radiator included in the Kandalf LCS system incorporates a copper tube and aluminum fins.  It is relatively large (407mm x 120mm x 35mm), which should go a long way in dissipating heat with minimal noise.  The three 120mm cooling fans are each rated for 1,300 rpm, 54.4 CFM, and 17 dBA at 12 VDC (something doesn’t sound quite right — we’ll check on this later during testing).

The three cooling fans draw air in thru the front grill and blow thru the radiator.  Some of the air exiting the radiator flows out the top and bottom openings behind the door, while the remainder flows into the case thru any non-occupied 5.25′ bays.

Thermaltake uses black rubber hoses attached to the radiator, which provides good strength and flexibility for routing inside the case.  The fan wires and hoses are wrapped in black plastic mesh sleeving for protection.

A special wiring harness is provided that allows powering all three radiator fans from a single 4-pin Molex drive connector.

Pump/Reservoir

Not much is known about this particular pump other than it appears to be very similar to the pump Thermaltake uses in their BigWater systems.  The pump inlet fitting is attached to the reservoir via a friction fit.

The plastic reservoir tank is fitted with a screw cap for filling and has a maximum capacity of 350mm.  The pump cable is terminated with a 4-pin Molex connector and rpm sense wire that can be plugged into a spare motherboard fan header to monitor pump speed/operation.

The pump gives the appearance of having the potential for excellent head pressure but testing showed otherwise.  However, the measured free flow numbers corresponded with the advertised specs (500L/hr).  This is obviously a low pressure, medium flow pump, which should work well with the other components included in the Kandalf LCS kit.
