3DMark06
The new Futuremark 3DMark06 benchmark was released just a few months ago and has already become a popular test for GPU benchmarks and CPUs as well. You can see my full overview of the new benchmark, what it has to offer over the 2005 version and some other initial scores from my previous article.
Our 3DMark06 results show us that the 8600 GTS has the potential to out perform the X1950 Pro and nearly has the raw power of the X1900 XT 256MB as well. The X1950 Pro still has the advantage in pixel shading power and fill rates but with the unified shader architecture of the 8600 GTS, it wins the vertex shading test by a landslide. But of course, as always, the real test is all those games you saw before this page.
