FEAR

FEAR (DirectX 9)

One of the most impressive games of E3 2005 turned out to be one of the most graphically intense as well.

*** Note: we have disabled Soft Shadows in all the below tests despite what the screen indicates above.  And since we were using the retail game this time, I opted to use the in-game “settings test” fly by to compare performance.

FEAR turned out to be a problematic game for th 8600 due to some kind of stuttering issue that plagued it during the intro movie scenes and through out the gaming test.  What is odd though is that this ONLY happened with the 8600 GTS card and not with an 8800 GTS card or 7900 GS card I tried with the same driver version.  Neither of the ATI card exhibited this behavior either.

With that in mind, the results show some decent performance if were to take out the strong dips to very bottom of the graphs.  This is still a case where NVIDIA needs to find the bug and fix performance though because of now they are getting demolished in FEAR testing.
