3DMark06
The new Futuremark 3DMark06 benchmark was released just a few months ago and has already become a popular test for GPU benchmarks and CPUs as well. You can see my full overview of the new benchmark, what it has to offer over the 2005 version and some other initial scores from my previous article.

Looking at our synthetic testing in 3DMark06, the 8600 GT appears to have a much bigger advantage than the gaming results showed: 44% in the default test runs. Another interesting note is that the 7600 GT has a higher fill rate value even though it obviously wasn’t performing as fast as the 8600 GT in our gaming tests; obviously fill rates and other synthetic numbers mean less and less as the architectures evolve into the highly programmable ones we are seeing in G80 and R600.
