Custom Read Test
To verify the results from commercial benchmark products, we have created custom tests to reveal any differences. In our custom read performance test, we verify the integrity of a 1.5GB RAR archive file residing on the SD card and calculate its rate in terms of MB/s. (In the case of the 1GB Kingston card, we are using a 500MB RAR file).
Though care was taken to control all variables, some effects are impossible to eliminate like latency of transferring data over the system’s bus as well as services that may interfere in the background.
Integrated tests once again show unusual results with all cards around the 3MB/s mark, while the Sandisk Ultra II approaches the 10 MB/s level.
Using USB reader, the OCZ SD cards have come out being some of the stronger cards in this round-up winning the top two spots on our custom file read test. Surprisingly, the PNY 60x which has done so well previously comes out on the short end here.
