Custom Write Test
To confirm the tests from the other benchmarks, we have a custom file writing test which copies 1.5 GB worth of images (approximately 2MB each file) to the SD card. In the case of the Kingston 1GB card, we use 500MB worth of images. We record the time required to perform this operation and then calculate the test’s effective throughput.
Unlike the previous tests, there appears to be little difference in results whether using the integrated reader or the USB reader. This is a bit unusual and I welcome readers to perform their own tests to see how their integrated reader stacks up against a USB reader.
Looking at these results you can see that the PNY 60x and the OCZ 80x are the real winners here with top spots in the tests as well as costing less than then competition.
