An Inside Look

Here are a few pictures showing the layout and components inside the Ultra X3 1,000W power supply.  Notice the X3 uses two main output transformers (yellow and red labels) along with the smaller +5VSB transformer to the right.

Just like the original Ultra X-Pro and X-Finity units we reviewed previously, the X3 power supply appears to be manufactured by Andyson International Co LTD.  In fact, the internal circuit board and components are nearly identical to the Ultra X-Pro/X-Finity 800W units with the obvious exception of the larger cooling fan and a different heatsink configuration.

The overall layout appears to be very good and all of the Teapo branded capacitors are rated for 105°C.

The Ultra X-Pro and X-Finity 800W units both had quad +12V outputs (+12V1, +12V2, +12V3, and +12V4).  It’s interesting to note that the X3 still has provisions for four separate +12V outputs, but now they are bridged into one — a much better arrangement IMO.
