HL2: Episode 1 – Radeon HD 2600 XT

The Half-Life 2 series is just too popular to stop and Valve’s move to episodic gaming with HL2: Episode 1 has so far paid off. Based largely around the technology demo of HL2: Lost Coast, Episode 1 brings new shaders and HDR to gamer’s taking the role of Gordon Freeman.
Under Valve’s HL2 engine, the 2600 XT is a good performing GPU, but the 8600 GT and 8600 GTS are both able to perform better.
Because NVIDIA’s cards don’t scale very well at all under HL2, the 2600 XT in CrossFire mode is able to capture a performance victory here.
