SilverStone Olympia 750W Power Supply Review - Cases and Cooling 34

The SilverStone OP750 power supply features a compact steel enclosure with a black-matte finish and it has the SilverStone name embossed across the top.  The power supply uses a single, 120mm fan on the bottom-side for cooling.  This is the same fan SilverStone uses on other Olympia and Decathlon power supplies.

The cooling fan is made by Everflow (R121225BU).  This is a medium-speed model that has 9 blades and uses one ball and one sleeve bearing.  It’s rated for up to 2,400 rpm, 110 CFM, 3.3 mmH2O, and 39.5 dBA when operating on 12 VDC.  To help keep things quiet, the fan speed is automatically controlled by the internal component temperature (speeds up as the combined load and temperature increases).

Air is drawn in thru the bottom of the power supply by the large cooling fan and exits thru the open honey comb grill on the back, along with a small slotted opening on the front below the cables.

Cables and Connectors

All of the cables on the OP750 power supply are hard-wired into the chassis and covered with black-mesh sleeving up to the first connector.  The cables range in length from 21-1/2” (550mm) up to 45” (1,150mm).

  • (1) 24-pin Motherboard connector
  • (1) 8-pin EPS12V connector
  • (1) 4-pin ATX12V connector
  • (1) 8-pin PCI-E connector
  • (4) 6-pin PCI-E connectors
  • (2) Triple SATA connectors
  • (2) Triple 4-pin HDD and one FDD connectors

In addition to four 6-pin PCI-E cables/connectors, the OP750 comes with one of the new 8-pin PCI-E cable/connectors to support the latest video cards.  The 6-pin PCI-E connectors are doubled-up, two per cable.  I would prefer to have each connector on its own dedicated cable to minimize voltage drop during high loads.
