Features and Specifications
The Monsoon II Lite cooler combines the features of a high-performance HSF with a Peltier device to provide outstanding cooling without the disadvantages normally associated with Thermoelectric Cooling.
It has been almost a year since we first reviewed the original Monsoon II TEC cooler. The main heatsink fan, which incorporates both thermoelectric cooling (TEC) and heat pipe technology, remains basically the same. The Lite version now includes a simple PCI card controller instead of the larger 5.25” bay device with LCD display that came with the original Monsoon II cooler. And this time around we will be testing the Monsoon II Lite on our red-hot P4 Presler CPU.
The Vigor Monsoon II is not a typical CPU heatsink fan. In addition to a copper base, large aluminum fins, and 92mm LED fan, the Monsoon II Lite cooler incorporates both heat pipes and active Thermoelectric Cooling. The Monsoon Active Cooling System (MACS) comes with a PCI card control module that automatically adjusts the cooler’s fan speed and turns on and off the Peltier device to maintain a target CPU temperature.
The Monsoon II Lite is a second generations MACS cooler that has been designed to deliver excellent CPU cooling and be easy to install, with models that support both Intel LGA775 and AMD K8/AM2 platforms.
