New GPU Information
In both integrated, Fusion and discrete graphics solutions in the upcoming years from AMD, they have several technologies intent on being included in them all. These include DX9, DX10 and beyond, a new UVD revision, PCIe 2.0 and the upcoming DisplayPort standard.
AMD was adamant that the discrete GPU will live on even with the push to Fusion products.
AMD plans on the GPU doing more than just graphics work, but also physics, modeling, media processing and enhanced text rendering. They pretty much laid out a large list of goals for GPU technology including the DisplayPort standard, HDR and effect improvements and battery life improvements (on mobile GPUs).
Stream computing is also a big push as you can see here, including an image of what appears to be an AMD graphics board without display outputs. Looks kind of similar to the NVIDIA Tesla release last month…?
