The Liberty DXX 500W PSU enclosure is painted gloss black and is only 140mm deep.   It uses a single 120mm fan on the bottom fitted with a recessed, bright gold colored fan grill.  The fan speed is dynamically adjusted between 800 and 2,400 rpm based on the power supply load and internal component temperatures.

The clear seven bladed fan is manufactured by Globefan (B1202512M-3M) and is capable of moving a relatively large amount of air to keep all the internal bits cool.  This particular fan uses ball bearings and has a max rating of 2,400 rpm, 80.98 CFM and 39.0 dBA at 12V.

The open honeycomb grill on the back of the PSU presents minimal restriction to the flow of exhaust air and is fitted with a power cord receptacle and On-Off switch.

There are 8 color-coded, keyed sockets on the front of the power supply where the modular cables plug into.  The two red sockets are for the PCI-E cables/connectors and the remaining six black sockets supply power to other peripheral devices.  Because the sockets are keyed, you can’t plug a connector into the wrong socket.

The Liberty DXX 500W power supply comes with a basic complement of cables and connectors.  The wiring harnesses measure from 16” to 26” long and are covered with black snake-skin mesh sleeving up to the first connector. The main 24-pin power cable and 8-pin (4+4 CPU) cable are hard-wired, while all the remaining cables are modular.

The six modular cables come neatly packed in a black plastic storage poach.

  • Main power connector (20-pin/24-pin)
  • EPS12V 8-pin (splits to make two 4-pin +12V ATX)
  • PSU Fan RPM signal (3-pin)
  • (1) Modular PCI-E (6-pin)
  • (1) Modular PCI-E (6+2-pin)
  • (4) Modular Peripheral Optical/HDD/FDD

One of the modular PCI-E cables comes fitted with a standard 6-pin connector while the second one has a combo 6+2-pin connector that supports the new PCI-E 2.0 standard.  Note the PSU end of this 8-pin cable is fitted with two 6-pin connectors; one plugs into a red PCI-E socket while the other one plugs into a black peripheral device socket.
