BIOS Features
The GIGABYTE GA-M57SLI-S4 motherboard Bios features a fair amount of overclocking and tweaking functionality. While some of the voltage options may not go as high as some motherboards, it should offer up a decent overclocking experience.
Here is the main BIOS screen and the options it presents. There is one category hidden that is only revealed after pressing the Control F1 key, we will come to that shortly.
Shown here are the Advanced BIOS Features screen and the settings within that you can adjust.
Next up the integrated peripherals screen. Here is where you can enable and disable most of the onboard devices of the mainboard.
The motherboard Intelligent Tweaker Screen (M.I.T) is where most of your adjustments will be made to overclock your AMD AM2 based CPU.
Shown here is the maximum values I could select using my X2 5000+ CPU. The field in red indicates you may be selecting a voltage value that could potentially damage your components.
Highlighted here is the hidden configuration section reveled after pressing Control F1. It has been a trend of GIGABYTE for some time to hide ram configuration settings in the BIOS using this method. I find it puzzling that they continue this trend, given that some ram needs to be manually configured at times.
Selecting the hidden menu option brings you to these now configurable options in the BIOS.
You can set the default memory speed from DDR2-400 to DDR2-800 and a couple of settings in between depending on the memory modules you use in the system.
