3DMark06 and PCMark05

3DMark06 v1.10

This benchmark is used by many in the enthusiast crowd to compare their systems so we decided it would be good for our readers if we included numbers from our test system here as well.

You’ll notice that in some cases I have included another data point for “GByte @ 300 HT”; as you might guess this is the result from an overclocked configuration using the MA69GM-S2H and a 300 MHz HT bus link.  More on that in the overclocking section.

A note on the PCMark05 tests: the other two AMD 690 boards are showing better overall scores, but that is because the GPU performance on the previous models are using a discrete graphics card instead of the integrated GPU on the chipset.  You can tell from the graph though that the CPU, Memory and HDD tests are all top-notch from the new Gigabyte motherboard.

The 3DMark06 results show an important point in our overclocked HT bus: the faster the link between the CPU and chipset (and thus GPU), the better the graphics core can perform.  This puts it closer to main memory and a small increase in overall CPU speed results in an 18% increase in 3D performance.  Very nice!
