The Satellite P205-S6287 is very stylish with its onyx blue metallic exterior and silver keyboard. The exterior cover is very glossy and will be subject to fingerprint smudges. For some reason, I’ve always looked at the construction of the case as an indication of the quality of the notebook. Maybe it’s because I’ve had the misfortune in the past of having to replace a notebook display and the hassle that’s involved in returning the product to the manufacturer, but one feature that is important to me is that the lid doesn’t feel flimsy. The Satellite passes the test there and has a suitably solid-feely display.
This notebook has a integrated 1.3 mega pixel webcam and microphone.
The webcam is controlled by a menu that appears from the left side of the screen.
It features harman/kardon® stereo speakers positioned just above the keyboard. The power buttons along with DVD controls are positioned between the speakers.
Placement of the speakers on the top of the keyboard versus underneath or in front of the notebook provides a little better sound quality. Sound volume can be adjusted with a volume dial that is situated underneath the touchpad on the front of the notebook. This feature allows for more fine control of the sound volume versus the more traditional “up/down” buttons that other notebooks we’ve tested have used.
