BIOS Features
After looking at the motherboard itself, the BIOS is the next feature that needs to be evaluated for the enthusiast. Let’s see how the RoG Blitz Formula can stack up.
The Extreme Tweaker menu is where all the magic happens and you can see an outline of all the options that are available.
AI overclocking is a setting that that Asus offers users for auto overclocking, though most users will definitely want to set it to manual for the most control.
The CPU ratio can be easily adjusted and the BIOS supports up to 31x!! But I wouldn’t count on it…
The FSB strap to the north bridge setting is equivalent to the settings of the FSB ratio to the memory bus.
Here you can set the memory frequency from DDR2-667 up to DDR2-1333 if you memory modules can handle it.
Delving into the memory settings we start with the command rate setting at either 1T or 2T.
The rest of the DRAM timings are seen here — CAS latency and all the other important timings are adjustable.
In our Advanced CPU settings menu the BIOS gives you a read out of all the current CPU information as well as allowing you another location to change the CPU ratio and CPU feature settings.
One thing you’ll have to agree with – the BIOS of the Asus Blitz Formula has more voltage adjustments than just about any other motherboard we have seen to date. The screen here indicates green colored values for safe and red values for dangerous giving you a simple warning during overclocking.
Starting off impressively, the CPU voltages can be set to as high as 1.9v!
