“Contrary to early reports that there would be a Linux client binary that would ship on the Unreal Tournament 3 DVD inside the game’s box, this will not be the case. Ryan Gordon (a.k.a. “Icculus”), the one responsible for the UT3 client and server ports for Linux and Mac, has stated this morning that the Linux client will not be in the game’s box.”Here is some more Tech News from around the web:

An interesting sales model
So, it would appear that UT3 has adopted a rather odd approach to attract Linux gamers. Their theory seems to be selling them a disk that only work under Windows and a promise that they will get right on the Linux client thing. While they do say that the Linux port will use the same disk, I am not sure how many people are going to run out and buy a disk they can’t use. The fact that the editor uses wxWidgets does offer some hope to those waiting for the Linux binary to be complete, but still doesn’t take the sting out of the snub.
