When the resolution increases, the HD 2900 XT from AMD is able to nearly beat out the NVIDIA 8800 GTS 640MB in performance. I say “nearly” because of the frequent “stalls” or “pauses” that AMD’s cards were showing in our testing, where the frame rate dropped down to single digits for just an instant. It was quite annoying.
SLI scaling is at 56% for the 8800 GTX and 49% for the 8800 GTS 640MB – pretty decent for Vista. The CrossFire configuration is once again a letdown even though the single card performance is pretty good.
