Included Extras
Gigabyte’s X38-DQ6 motherboard is a high end offering from the manufacturer but the extras that are included in the box don’t really give us the impression that this board is built for a high-end user.

Gigabyte has included support for up to four external SATA (eSATA) components with these dongles. The back panel connections plug into the SATA ports on the motherboard and the black cables that Gigabyte provided allow you to convert the 4-pin Molex power connections to SATA power. There are two eSATA cables as well; you need more than that I hope the drive provider handed them out!

Gigabyte gives you a single IDE and floppy cable for your legacy devices and includes four SATA cables, two of which have right angle connections. I do wish that Gigabyte had included more standard SATA cables in addition to a couple extra eSATA cables for the all the features that they placed on their board.

The documentation is pretty sound in the X38-DQ6 motherboard and should help pretty much get users of all experience levels up and running. The back panel sure does look odd with all those USB ports on it though!
Overall, the included package with the Gigabyte X38-DQ6 motherboard is decent. It doesn’t have the flair that some of Asus’ motherboards provide but the fact that it comes with the necessities and that’s about it could appeal to more enthusiast users by keeping the cost down.
