Overclocking Results
Of course we couldn’t let a new processor come across our test bench without some basic overclocking tests.

425 MHz FSB
450 MHz FSB – our top limit…
For whatever reason, on this Asus P5E3 Deluxe motherboard that we have seen hit 515 MHz FSB, the Yorkfield CPU didn’t like our FSB changes all that much. When trying to get anything like 460 MHz or 475 MHz FSB we were met with BIOS lock ups and crashes before getting into Windows. I tried to adjust some voltages but was unable to get this combination running at any FSB speed higher than this.
Of course that doesn’t mean our overclocking results with the CPU as a whole were bad:
Of course that doesn’t mean our overclocking results with the CPU as a whole were bad:
Quick 3.2 GHz overclock
4.00 GHz Reached!
Even though our CPU wouldn’t overclock with a very high FSB I was still able to push the processor up to 4.00 GHz – a 33% increase in total frequency. We are still experimenting with the new CPU to find out if these results are the norm or stand out as being singular. Of course, the best place to check is in our overclocking forums to see what others get when the CPUs are finally released.
