SLI and CrossFire Performance (cont’d)
Looking at the 8800 GTS 320MB and the 8600 GTS cards, both see some good scaling percentages at our 2048×1536 resolution tests. The GTS card increases its average frame rate by 30% or so while the 8600 GTS sees a 73% improvement in the average frame rate! Running a pair of these cards definitely makes the 2048×1536 resolution much more enjoyable with all the eye-candy turned on than with a single card.
Finally we compare the HD 2600 XT CrossFire setup to the 8600 GTS SLI configuration. The AMD card sees an 88% improvement in performance which is outstanding, even though in overall results it lags just behind the pair of NVIDIA 8600 GTS cards.
