Bioshock (DirectX 10)

An impressive FPS-based game with a great story, Bioshock impresses with both graphics and its ability to drag you along in the gameplay.  It has both DX9 and DX10 render paths and should make a great benchmark for graphics cards promising the best of both worlds.

The single card tests show a slight gain with the 7.10 drivers versus the 7.9 drivers we tested originally, nearly matching the performance of the 8800 GTS 640MB card.

Now here is a change!  The 7.10 drivers bump Bioshock’s CrossFire performance from an average frame rate of 36.8 up to 51.1; that is a 38% gain.  Considering the previous results had CrossFire causing a performance DECREASE, this is good news.  And again, the CrossFire numbers put the HD 2900 XT in line with the 8800 GTS 640MB card.
