An HTPC of a different colour
The NEC Home Entertainment Concept is a different take on the HTPC. The POWERMATE P5000 looks like the new iMacs, it is a large monitor that conceals an AMD Turion 64 X2 processor and RS690MC chipset with integrated ATI Radeon X1200 graphics. The POWERMATE X is a more traditional looking box, playing the role of a powerhouse media server with a C2Quad processor and a NVIDIA GeForce 8600-series GPU plus 2TBs of storage. Read on at Hardware Zone to see how CyberLink’s SoftDMA and Media Server applications are used in tandem with these units to get you your music, TV and movie fix.
