A Detailed Look
One of the more unique features of the Hiper Type R Mk II power supply is the inclusion of USB ports on the backside. Eight standard USB 2.0 ports are provided for increased connectivity along with one USB-style mobile device charging port for your mobile phone. The charging port gets its power from the +5VSB output, which stays on even when the PC is turned off.
The Hiper Type R Mk II 880W power supply features a bright blue chrome electroplate finish that is very attractive. (It’s also available with a gloss black finish if you prefer.) The enclosure is 180mm (7.1”) deep and uses a single 140mm fan on the bottom for cooling. In addition to the honey comb openings on the backside, the top and both sides of the enclosure are perforated with small holes for added cooling.
The large cooling fan incorporates blue LEDs and has 11 chrome blades for added bling. To help keep things quiet, the fan speed is automatically controlled by the internal component temperature (speeds up as the combined load and temperature increases). The Young Lin Tech high speed fan (D14SH) is rated for up to 140 CFM at 2,800 rpm and uses sleeve bearings.
