Here are a few pictures showing the layout and components inside the Hiper Type R Mk II 880W power supply.  The overall layout and build quality appears to be very good.  I have to say, this is the most colorful power supply I have ever seen.  It’s a shame most users will never see the rainbow of colors that hides inside.


The Hiper Group is using Channel Well Technology (CWT) as the OEM for this power supply.  We have seen this platform before (Thermaltake Toughpower, Corsair TX, etc.) and for the most part it is capable of delivering very good results.


The primary side (where the AC line voltage is converted to DC and the power factor correction is performed).


And the secondary side (where the DC voltages are regulated, filtered and distributed along with protection circuits and fan speed control).


Here you can see the backside of the USB ports and the associated USB controller board.  As we mentioned earlier, the USB-style mobile device charging port gets its power from the +5VSB output, which stays on even when the PC is turned off and can supply up to 1A.
