Bioshock

Bioshock (DirectX 10)

An impressive FPS-based game with a great story, Bioshock impresses with both graphics and its ability to drag you along in the gameplay.  It has both DX9 and DX10 render paths and should make a great benchmark for graphics cards promising the best of both worlds.

At 1600×1200 we see that the third 8800 Ultra card is actually slowing things down slightly – the GPUs just aren’t bottlenecked enough for the third card to do anything other than add to the CPU load.  At 1920×1200 the situation remains pretty much the same though the 3-Way SLI system performs at the same level as the 2-Way SLI configuration.

At 2560×1600 though the power of the graphics cards is really shown.  Going from a single 8800 Ultra to a pair gives us a 30% performance increase and adding in a third card gives you yet another 30% boost making 2560×1600 with all the eye candy a completely enjoyable gaming experience.  The frame rate never drops below 40 frames per second either.
