Call of Juarez

Call of Juarez (DirectX 10)

Call of Juarez is one of the most visually impressive games I have come across in some time.  Set in the Wild West time frame, this game puts a bit of a spin on the classic FPS style with some slowdown effects as well as playing characters that are essentially against one another.

The main DX10-based options here are the “enhanced quality” here at the very bottom as well as the shader model set at 4.0 above.

The Call of Juarez engine is one of the few titles that see performance gains right off the bat at 1600×1200 – and noticeable ones!  Two 8800 Ultra cards is 65% faster than a single card and three of them is 47% faster than two.  The 1920×1200 results are just as impressive and being able to play the game with all the DX10 features and 4xAA on at these resolutions makes the 10 FPS of the 8800 GTS 512MB almost look embarrassing.

Somewhat surprisingly, at 2560×1600 the 3-Way SLI benefit shrinks to 30% or so over the two-card SLI configuration though it still manages to almost hit 30 FPS on average.
