3DMark06 v1.1.0
The Futuremark 3DMark06 benchmark was released many moons ago and has become a popular test for GPU benchmarks and CPUs as well.  You can see my full overview of the new benchmark, what it has to offer over the 2005 version and some other initial scores from my previous article

Though in its final death throes, 3DMark06 is still our best choice for a good look at synthetic graphics card benchmarks.  The single card score of 13328 from the HD 3870 X2 is impressive and is about 12% faster than the single 8800 Ultra card and about on par with the score from the two HD 3870s in CrossFire.  In fact, looking at the rest of the results, the HD 3870 X2 and the pair of 3870 cards show nearly identical results that are well ahead of the synthetic scores posted by the 8800 Ultra.
