Intel Skulltrail Platform Review – Eight Cores, SLI and CrossFire

Skulltrail is the fastest encoder here and is 31% faster than the next competitor from Intel and 70% faster than the best AMD has to offer.   


Our DivX encoding performance is also impressive pulling in a time 25% faster than our previous best.



Handbrake is a DVD re-encoding software and again the Skulltrail performance is the best we have ever seen!  The DP quad-core system is 63% faster than the single CPU configuration with an almost identical setup.  AMD’s Phenom 9900, which isn’t even available yet, is more than 117% slower than Intel’s Skulltrail. 


The MP3 encoder we used in the LAME test is still just a two-threaded application, and so here we see Skulltrail stop its reign of domination – the single CPU setups that run at 3.0 GHz or faster from Intel are able to best it.
