Overclocking
For testing the overclocking ability I took the QX9650 processor used in our benchmarking and test system setup and pushed it as far it could go on the front-side bus.

We topped out the Gigabyte board at about 460 MHz

While a FSB of 460 MHz isn’t the top we have seen overall, for this particular processor, a quad-core early sample, 460 MHz matches our previous best FSB overclock on any Intel motherboard.  There is one exception to this: the new EVGA nForce 790i Ultra SLI that was released just this week as well.

Overall, I think you’ll find the X48 chipset and this Gigabyte X48-DQ6 motherboard would be able to suit your overclocking needs.
