The Futuremark 3DMark06 benchmark was released many moons ago and has
become a popular test for GPU benchmarks and CPUs as well. You can seemy full overview of the new benchmark, what it has to offer over the 2005 version and some other initial scores from my previous article.
3DMark06 is definitely showing its age with these benchmark results. The new 9800 GX2 comes up slower than the AMD 3870 X2 and just barely faster than the previous 8800 Ultra card though the default benchmark scores are pretty much useless at this point. What is interesting to see however are the fill rate test results and pixel shader test results both of which show the NVIDIA card with a significant advantage.
