AMD Phenom X3 8750 2.4 GHz Triple-Core Processor Review

AMD told us that Windows Media Encoder does not recognize three processing cores, and that is obviously the case here.  The software has internal settings for 2 or 4 cores, so the third core isn’t really utilized at all.   


The same MIGHT be the case for our VirtualDub test that utilizes the DivX encoder.



Our Handbrake test definitely does see a gain from the three-core processor as we see a noticeable jump over the dual-core options.


Our Lame MP3 encoding test really only uses two cores so the X3 8750 performs just as well as AMD’s quad-core parts.
